Abstract Note

We represent the Mainers who stand in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement, as well as the other “Occupy” groups across the globe…

It’s been the same issues, the same fight, for a very, very long time now.

Same stand against abuses of power, against the use of violence to waste and foul and hoard resources, which has been going on generation after generation. This violent greed has finally gotten so bad that our ecosystem can’t even take it anymore.

What is finally different, this time around, is that through the internet, now we 99% can communicate, & stand together.

There are no more excuses for anyone who sees what is going on to not step up and do their share.

We will not allow this debate to be framed in the context of political party, or religious divide, or racial divide, or any other petty divisive lever which has been used for centuries to distract us from the man behind the curtain.

We are finally waking up, and paying attention. We are organizing in a way which honors both agreed upon structure and process, and individual needs. We are holding each other accountable, rather than puffing each other up, and then tearing each other down. Nobody carries the burden of power it is to be the leader, yet everyone bears responsibility to be a leader.

Because admitting that none of us can do it all makes it safer for people to be their true selves, everyone brings something unique – and so the larger group is more complete.

There is a saying that Occupy is not a protest, it is a process. It is not easy, and we are taking baby steps, because human beings are not very good at communicating.
Yet.
