Abstract Note
WE, the participants of the Occupation of Columbia, Missouri, have joined together in solidarity with occupations around the world to express a feeling of mass injustice and to take action for a better, more just future.
We are leaderless. We come as individuals, autonomous, with distinct concerns about a variety of issues. We stand as one people, united, against a system, which allows for domination of the vast majority of the population by a wealthy few. And we stand as one people, united, in support of the well-being of all humanity. All people who have been wronged by the corporate forces of the world are our allies.
It is our goal to connect on a human level and then engage in critical thinking and mutually respectful conversation about the world around us. As Occupy COMO, we reject any violence – economic and otherwise – perpetuated against peoples of the world and we encourage the use of nonviolent means to achieving our ends and to maximize the safety of all participants. We occupy for ourselves and for all people who have been unjustly denied their equal human and financial rights by a system run by and for the wealthiest among us. All are welcome to join us.
