Just happened to be in the downtown Dallas area on a service call, and had a few minutes between so I decided to stop in and see the Dallas occupation for myself. They seem to be a very well organized, and passionate bunch!
I spoke briefly with their media team, and compared setups. Both sides of the area code line (I’m a phone tech, so….) seem to be gaining in strength and numbers.
The Dallas movement is discussing all occupies getting a skype account to have voice communications between all the sites. This is a very good idea in my opinion. Another option, which I have been personally working on, is to use an Asterisk based open source PBX. It just so happens, I work on such systems for a living, and have been as some have heard, in the process of setting up such a system for the Fort Worth occupation. I see no reason we couldn’t use this same system to connect all of the occupies together, on our own private telecommunications server. As democracy demands, that decision is up to the movement as a whole.
