Abstract Note
I sat down with October 2011 organizer Tim Williams on a chilly evening to talk about the open discussion format being employed in Freedom Plaza. We discussed how the meetings are structured, who sets the agenda, and ways for everyone to participate in reaching consensus. We also compared the procedures being used here with those seen in Occupy events around the country, particularly the New York City occupation that has attracted thousands of participants and visitors in past weeks.
