Text

I have had no direct involvement with the Occupy Wall Street movement. I pass the Occupy Honolulu encampment daily on my walk from to and from the bus stop and my home. They are a small and friendly group.

They affect my daily life minimally. I pass by and occasionally throw a member a shaka to show my support. Despite being 2500 miles away I have been more deeply affected by the Occupy Portland protest. I am a recent transplant from Portland to Honolulu. I followed the tense removal of protesters there via twitter and accounts from friends. I was, at times, severely worried about my hometown. So far as I can tell from so far away things there went as good as they could with the removal of the Portland group.

It's curious that as other cities in the US have aggressively sought to remove the camps the Honolulu group seems happily well entrenched.
